In November 2011, I came across a Facebook post from Marci Liroff (Casting Director extraordinaire…ET, Footloose, Indiana Jones, Mean Girls…you get the idea) about a project she was Producing and Casting called “The Sublime and Beautiful.”  Like many Independent filmmakers they were trying to raise funding through Kickstarter.  Kickstarter is a wonderful platform for all types of creative people who need a little financial assistance to see their dream become a reality through donations.  After checking out their page I decided that not only did I want to donate a little money, I was interested in auditioning for a part in the film.

BUT, I had a little bitty issue.  We had recently moved to Los Angeles and I was without a theatrical agent.  What’s a girl to do?  Well, I took a chance and contacted the Director myself.  Eventually, I was invited to “self tape” for the role of Jaime.  Thankfully, they liked what they saw and invited me in for a work session with the Director (more on him later) and Marci Liroff herself.  I booked the job!  My motto always is “what’s the worst they can say if you ask…no?”  I truly believe we are our own best advocates.  I also believe it’s imperative that we take our careers into our own hands as much as possible.  Never settle or wait for the opportunities to come to you.

Now for the REAL reason for this update…In January of 2012, I had the pleasure of filming my supporting role in “The Sublime and Beautiful.”  It was the Directorial debut of an amazing Actor and Writer, Blake Robbins.  You may recognize him from “The Office” or “Oz.” Enjoy the trailer included here!

I am truly grateful for every opportunity I have had in my career, and this certainly was no different.  I learn a little bit about myself and hopefully grow as an actor each time. Blake was tremendously giving throughout this entire process and I am SO looking forward to sharing the finished product with you very soon.  The cast and crew were unbelievable.  Until then…some on set pics for you to enjoy!

My best,

Shanda Lee Munson
